Five Days

I don't remember if I was counting the days before the second of September or the days until and counting September 2nd. Anyways, here's the update on what's been going on.

Band camp was tiring. Today was the final day and it went over well. Bass drum is fine but as mentioned before... I'd rather be on a snare.

Skit night was tonight. My group name was Krayola with a backwards K. Our skit was the dark colors versus the light aka the upperclassmen versus the underclassmen. It was pretty good. It was funny. People laughed. We won't know results until next week.

Tomorrow is orientation for the freshmen. I'm one of the big sisters, big brother people. It'll be good... I guess.

I've made progress on the APUSH homework. I got through chapter two. Now I just have to do chapters three and four. Unfortunately, those just happened to be the longer ones. So I have to haul ass. I still have to also finish the last 52 pages of Grapes of Wrath... but now I barely remember the story. Whatever.

September two not only marks the start of school but the start of my year and half long conidioning. Nothing will stop between me and my position on snare.

Uh, Twelve days?

So right now, I'm doing a lot better. I don't know if it's because it's been a shorter day [12:30-9:00] or because I'm a different drum.

Yep, I've been put on a different drum; bass drum. And it's OK.

Last night when I came home I was in so much pain, grief, and depression. I fell asleep at 9:48. I remember the time because I checked right before I conked out. I was in so much pain that I couldn't walk correctly and I was limping by the end of the day. Ultimately, this put me in a bad mood because I was worried that my inability to hold and march with the snare drum would prohibit or impede on my snare spot.

So today right before we were thrown outside for marching half time rehearsal, I confronted Mr. P about the issue. I broke down in tears against my own will. I told him that I really wanted to be on snare but I don't think my body can handle it. I showed him my bruises as proof. I really didn't want to give up my snare position and apparently, neither did Mr.P. He seemed very reluctant to put me on bass because of how small the snare line would be. He showed sympthaty and reassured me that my spot would be waiting for my senior year. So he let me march with the bass drum and it was fine. I'd much rather perfer snare though because things are more interesting to play.

So that's it.

Here's the reason why I couldn't march/walk properly yesterday. I did better today though. Click the pictures to make it larger.

Left knee/thigh: Three huge bruises and several minor bruises sustained

Right knee/thigh: Two major brusies and a few minor bruises sustained

Upper Right Thigh: Bruise from the J-Bar

Upper Left Thigh: Bruise from the J-Bar

Left Ring Finger: The result of traditional grip

Right Index Finger: The result of new tape and bad rolls

Thirteen days left.

I'm just typing with my left hand. I'm very tender, tired, and weak. I have a bruise on my right knee and probably a bigger one on the way.

I can't march with a snare... plain and simple. And it frustrates so much that I want to cry. I hate myself for not being to. Enough ranting. That's what lj is for. So I had to fall out twice marching. Yeah. I'm too tired to think. I'm just waiting for the word that I'm on bass. The idea pisses me off.

I need sleep.

Now it's fourteen.

Ouch. More pain than ever.

Today, Anthony was officially taken off snareline. That would automatically mean that my snare line spot is secure. But another problem comes to face me. A very serious problem. None of the snare harnesses fit me right to be comfortable in moving. We sawed off the J-bars that helped alittle. We marched more and played. Tiring, by the way. Then adjusted the harness which cripled me. So I didn't play the rest of the evening. The next move would be either to pad the harness more, which I don't think will work, or to buy a new harness. Worst comes to worst, Mr. P wants me on bass line. That's ok. At least I'll know I have what it takes to make snare line just not the right size. So it's not that upsetting now to get a bass. Nice.

I'm in pain everywhere and stretching just doesn't cut it anymore. Neither does hot baths. and both my hands are fucked up.

And Oh yeah, I went to the doctor's to get my physical done. I didn't think they would take my blood. I forgot that they did that by pricking your finger. Good thing they didn't test for drugs. I'd be screwed. I skipped out on the urine test for the third year in a row by saying I got my period. Oh, and I got six shots and a TB test. That's seven needles niggaaaas.

I'm badass.

Fourteen and a half.

I meant to write a blog yesterday about the official first day of band camp and drumline audition... But I was in pain, sore, extremely tired, and nauseated. That's why this is called Fourteen and a half days because today is the second day and it has not yet started and I'm going to talk about yesterday.

Everyone usually gets pumped up and psyched for band camp and drumline is one of the few sections that get especailly pumped. This year, although we were psyched for band camp, we were also dreading it. Auditions were held the first day instead of back in May like it should have been.

I had been weary and anxious since the morning marching rehearsal of the full band. Then finally after Band 101, we were scooted off to the gym with our drums. Ok, well not ours. I was extremely nervous because I knew I wanted snare so bad but I couldn't act cocky as if I was going to get it. But I played well, remembering all the other 'auditions' or single playing things I had to do and how I screwed up. So I didn't screw up BADLY, but my rolls deff need a lot of work. My fingers are all sore and feel broken. My right index finger got a blister and like the num nut I am, I tore it off. Two words, Searing Pain. I don't even know how I'll begin to play today. So eventually, at the auditions it came down to Anthony and I. That was the most nerve racking thing ever! Because, no offense to him or anything, I had already been on drumline for a year and was used to the memorizing music, even it wasn't the same type. I still had that skill. He was pretty good for a sophomore but I had been pining for this since as long as I can remember. Apparently, it was a difficult decision because Mr. P had to consult like five different people. HE consult Ian about a dozen times. It came to the conclusion that Mr. P would put both of us on, a five person snare line now a six person snare line, and who ever would give and be the 'bigger' person who saw as being on snare a difficult thing, he expected us to go on bass to make the 'better decision' for the drumline. Basically, I have a lot of pressure on me to get better and I plan to. It's just really stressing to think that my spot isn't permanent.

There's a whole list of things I could go on about but it's not worth it to get so riled up in the morning.

Needless to say, I was sore and exhausted by the end of the day. I came home, practiced, took a shower, and it was off to bed by eleven. Right now, my leg muscles are so weak I'm wondering how I'll stand today.

I also have a doctor's appointment today. At first, I thought this was a good thing, to get a break. Then realized it was a bad thing because if anything is gone over today.... then I won't know it.

At least today is the second day. Tomorrow is the last of the three 12 hours day.

And oh yeah, I've still haven't moved a page in my APUSH or GOW.

S i X T E E N.

Today, I accompanied my brother to the Freshmen Band camp. Ah, I remember the good times I had last year when I went with my best friend James. Of course, I wasn't supposed to be there but who could say otherwise to a cute person like me? OK, now I'm just getting cocky. The whole experience, to be generous, was actually fun. I talked to most people I wouldn't have and we acted as if we had been friends the whole time. I'm speaking about the other upperclassmen there who were helping out. I ate lunch with Taryn M and Courtney B who socialized with a group of freshmen. Normally, they get squat from other people just because other people like to be jerks but it was actually nice. I scoped out some of the cute freshmen, making me feel like a pedo cause I was mostly two years older than most. Later when we out on the field, the separated us into groups of two upperclassmen and four frosh. I had been sticking to Lauren Q cause we're just tight like that. Mark S ended up in our group, adding two more freshies. It was nice teaching them. They were real enthusiastic about the whole thing. We had a march off with all of the groups to see who the best marchers were. Lauren's Mark's and I's ended up tied with the group my brother and three of his other friends were in. Our group ended up winning. It was tight.

I don't know if I should say this online because I don't know if I really feel this way or if it's just hormones speaking but.... Mark S is cute. Admit, last year I thought he was creepy because of all the stories I heard about him being a perverted guy. But he was nice and funny. I don't know. It'll probably be a short lived crush and always be one.

So that was.... Band Camp 1/2. Tomorrow the real fun begins... Let's see what drum I make, yeah?

Oh yeahh... 16 days and I haven't continued any APUSH or GOW. Haha,I'm a failure. Even deleting my myspace and facebook did nothing for me.

T-Minus 19 Days.

Days couldn't seem so brighter towards the end of August! :D Ahaha! Did anyone sense my sarcasm in that yet? No? I doubt anyone ever will.

So just like the title says. 19 days until I'm *officially* a junior in high school. The transition is... not going so well. Lots of personal issues and what not. Mostly with myself... some with friends but that good stuff if for some other type of blog.

Technically, I've finished all of my APUSH hw [which wasn't mandatory btw]. But the book given to me by my friend who had taken the class had all the answers high lighted in the book already. So I basically pulled an illegal and copied all of her stuff. Ooops. But in order for me to be prepared for the first day of school I'll have to read the four chapters... That's the task that isn't going so well for me. I've gotten through a little more than 3/4 of Chapter one. Band camp starts in technically four days, so I'll be busy. Yikes. I should stop writing and do the reading, eh?

Then I've got 50 pages until I finish Grapes of Wrath for my AP Lang. class but that's an easy thing to do. I could do that the night before school started if it really came down to it. =/

Ah band camp, I'm considering quitting band. I better get quick to the considering because I think schedule changes are the first three days of school. I guess I'm just tired of all the problems of being thrown together with the same people every four nights entails. It's quite strenuous on my health. Plus, that gives me extra time to study more. Hm, considering... considering... considering...

Ah hell, I've got nineteen more days. No need to stress out just yet.

27 Days Later.

So just like the title says. It's T-minus 27 days until school officially starts and we kids kiss summer good bye. September Two is the day when summer drama is forgotten and new drama ensues. Ah, the glories of high school, the most tiring four years of my life.

I've never really liked summer. It's a breeding ground for disaster; for drama; for sun burns. What makes it more unbearable is the fact that if you're like me, meaning you have more than two honor courses, you're hammered from the beginning with endless mounds of summer work. It's makes for one really depressing summer. That and the fact that the apartment you live currently does not have an air conditioning system.

I'm currently 52 pages away from finishing my english reading assignment. When I finish that all I have left to do is re-read four chapters from an APUSH book. I'm glad to finally have all that finished because now I can focus on studying for tests and practice for Band.

Oh right, band camp. Two weeks away.
